An illegal Nazi rock concert and all the police did were respond to noise complaints and one man shouting Nazi slogans?!? Tell me the police aren’t institutionally racist without telling me the police aren’t institutionally racist…
I welcome people who use technology to circumvent horrible German user experiences. And in this case, when that horrible user experience could be getting dragged out of a train and beaten, then I applaud such solutions even more.
I mean they market it as “Blitzer App für Öffis”. Other countries also tell you there’s a speed trap coming up. So if you’re still speeding, you get in trouble. Germans seem to pride themselves on secretly trying to bust you as the expectation is that you’re following all the rules, all the time. (And then they tell you you live in freedom, as you ponder this waiting at a red light with not a car to be seen.)
Perhaps Germans will end their stupid honour system in a capital city and just come up with measures that exist in nearly all other transit systems worldwide. No ticket? No ride.
Turnstiles.
Oh but Germans are too cheap to upgrade so let’s just keep beating up the poor peasants or even locking them up.
🤷♂️
Personally I’d rather have a turnstile that you can pay with a card you top up or just your smartphone instead of dealing with the “authoritarian stooge” optics that Germany is so famous for.
The opera house funding is not just for opera; it also includes the Staatsballett (both of which help keep Berlin world-renowned in the performance art world), plus the upkeep of all these historic buildings AND paying all the people and performers who make it work. Your comment is very Timothee-esque and I hate to be the person nitpicking a dumb Substack comment, but you gotta do better. The city already cut €130 million in funding to the arts last year! I love the clubs too, but not everything has to be about the clubs.
fined ONLY 1000???
"Moss is a “digital spend management platform for European SMEs” aka a nifty AI-automation finance tool to keep a grip on business lunches."
LMAO. This is so silly. And they need 350 employees for this?
ok, the thing about business lunches was my little joke. It's just an accounting tool.
I looked them up. You are right on target.

Hey Timothée, look forward to some pushback on your opera comments in your inbox x x x
