What shocked me was the FDP signs that said something like "Enough German Enough Opportunities" which apparently isn't as ambiguous in German as it is in English and means "jobs for anyone with enough German language." But most people assume statements like that imply also their contrapositive, though formally actually they don't, so even that seems even skeezier than I'd expect the FDP to be. Are they going for AFD votes? The greens are putting a anti fascist posters under those, at least in Pankow.
Wow I missed that. I'd heard the FDP are a huge problem for the liberal party in the European Parliament as well as having been so for the German Government while they were in coalition. The FDP torpedoed the government immediately before all the German law complying with EU digital legislation was just about to go through making the entire union less safe for a couple of years, and they took in nearly as much money as the CDU on the last election despite not even making 5%. I absolutely despite them now, even though I identify as liberal. They don't strike me as liberal, but as the evil, corrupt end of libertarian. But maybe I'll start identifying as Green.
(I actually already voted green not liberal in the most recent British election, and even though though I am friends with and like our incumbent Liberal MP, but the Greens were just being by far the most sensible about all kinds of things.)
The passage about Volt is an example of how self fulfilling prophecies work. If everyone thinks that it doesn’t make sense to vote for a party because it won’t make it through the 5% barrier, then this party would never cross that barrier.
Yes but they both started from bigger movemements. Volt is just some dudes sitting around saying: How about another political party? Even Die Partei and Die Piratenpartei had bigger things behind them.
I admit I have only read Volt's posters and not their whole manifesto, but I had a different reaction. I feel like any idiot can name the problems in the city, what I wanna see is positivity and ideas for solutions. Why not put them on the posters?
Regarding the *socialisation* of the biggest housing companies ruling Berlin: Grüne also claimed publicly that they would follow through with the referendum. SPD also has several resolution from their members to socialize the housing companies.
Only the head of the SPD is blocking to socilisation (which is diffrent to a nationalisation- it involves more democratic control and a compensation for the companies below market prices and is explicitly aimed at improving social welfare)
A cool thing about Volt is that find out what works in other European cities and incorporate it into their platform.

I also find that FDP headline distasteful in the extreme. It reads like a desperate lurch to the right to me – gross.
The FDP is always half a step away from Nazi. If you remember Mölleman using FDP funds to basically finance Hamas, for example.
