I know you’re explicitly against misogyny and sexism, so please don’t take this as more than a very small comment: your title for the collien fernandes story is a bit unfortunate (“German comedic actor in off-the-hook sex scandal w/ wife”). “Scandal” sounds as if they both did something scandalous (she didn’t), and the framing of “comedic actor” / “wife” sounds as if she’s some rando - she’s an actress and TV presenter
I apologize for exaggeration, however India is unforgiving for its majority poor. People escape it or try to escape it with any means. Ofcourse , the country is beautiful in parts but it’s hospitable to tourists but given any opportunity people will try to escape it. Majority students are aware what there are signing into. It is nothing but a window of opportunity for them to leave.

Indians do not come here to study!!
They don't? That's what the whole interview I linked to talked about.
For Indians it’s mostly escape from hell . A pathway to migrate, they will be happy to spend
money to escape given any opportunity.
I've been to hell a few times, and while the weather could be better, overall it's not too bad
