Alles Gute for your Untätigkeitsklage!! In the best case scenario, a folder with the Berliner Wappen on the front, containing the Urkunde, just needs to be located in a drawer somewhere… 😉

I see we have the same view of German bureaucracy... :-)

Is it possible to get citizenship here without a lawyer?!

I'm trying to do it without a lawyer. Several actually wrote to me (and now there's a thread on our whatsapp group) even explaining how to do the Untätigkeitsklage without a lawyer. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm a bit nervous though because my application is a bit complex since I've been a freelancer for decades, and Germany hates freelancers.

Cheers, Andrew!

Why is everything here so byzantine…?

Oh interesting! How could I see this info about filing the Untatigkeitslage without a lawyer? Thank you :)

There is a thread on the Einbürgerung in Berlin Facebook group.

I would just have chatGPT write the forms. It costs about €800 and you can eventually get that back.

Heya Andrew, I just got told by my lawyer that the courts have now decided that 12 month is an acceptable amount of time to wait for citizenship and so said unless I have an urgent reason then they don't think it's worth filing for another 6 months :(

I've been kind of thinking this might happen -- weird for the federal government to be like, "Naturalize everyone!" but then provide no additional resources. Though that doesn't explain them dragging their feet on literally everything else.
