The fact that burger and Döner shops coordinated to provide gulasch and bean soup shows how grassroots mutual aid can actually work in areas facing serious challenges. Reminded me of a food pantry I voluteered at in Oakland where local restauarants did something similar, the key was just keeping it low-barrier and showing up consistently rather than making it some big formalized program.
