You know, Berlin has this abandoned airfield in the middle of the city that would be perfect for setting off fireworks. Make it the only legal location in the city to use fireworks. Then all of the fireworks enthusiasts can kill each other with their stupid, pointless, dangerous hobby. Problem solved!
In Sydney they used to combine a Sperrmülltag with a garage sale crawl. So essentially, it was a street party where you could shop or sell, and whatever wasn't sold would be collected by waste removal.
Unfortunately the fence at Gorli now means not only Mauerpark has dealers but even Humboldthain park has them. Berlin will need a lot of fences...or a new solution.
Boo to boring Molkenmarkt. How often do we get opportunities like this!? The pictures don't do justice to (or even show) all the cool and historic buildings around that site besides Rathause itself.
Sperrmülltag is SUCH a good idea – though considering how bad fly-tipping already is on a daily basis in Berlin, I imagine we'll be swimming through metre-deep amount of rubbish on the street on that particular day, if it ever happened
This is great, but what often gets dumped are large items like mattresses, cupboards, etc. If people have trouble taking these to a recyclinghof, I can't imagine them carrying them for 1-3km across their neighbourhoods.
makes sense. We once had a broken dryer sitting in our backyard for about 6 months before we could finally arrange a car to drop it off at a BSR location, which was only 2km away.
