It sounded like the levels might have been set too low and the voices were getting muddy on the higher volume. Could always be on my end, though.
The difference between East and West is still very much there, even if I was hanging out at a bar last night with a West Berliner who had only read about reunification... I too am getting very old. The parent company where I'm at was started in 1952-something in Neubrandenburg and it's very different than any American company I've ever worked for; but more German? And what even is "German". In my opinion a lot of discourse about Germanness ignores a great deal of history and larger cultural narratives that are still a thing. We STILL have dialects and regional traditions here, even if you're desperate to reach for some national framework of "German".
I had no idea there was a Fox News in Germany; and I equally have no idea how you could make that profitable. The route to profit in the US is clear... but Germany? Personally, I'm sick of the culture wars nonsense. I don't want to attack the Right on their stand on gender; I want to attack them on their fiscal policy. How does your party's position improve the lives of regular people? In my experience, their policies fail and then they provide the excuse that they just weren't given enough freedom; then they get more freedom to do what they want...and their policies continue to fail. Our approach shouldn't be silencing them on some "traditional" take on this or that. It's all distraction, as far as I'm concerned.

Hidden at the top of a tall building near Anhalter Bahnhof is the Solar sky lounge and restaurant. It's not openly advertised on the street and you really have to know about it and where it is to find it. You enter the lobby and take a glass elevator to the top floor that has panoramic windows with a 180°+ view of the city. The bar is elegant and serves fancy cocktails; so, it's not exactly Späti prices. This place was recommended to me back in 2013. One of my co-workers told me a story that the bar was there during the Cold War and operatives liked to hangout there and do spy stuff. This is probably just an anecdote, but it makes a good story. Give it a look, especially if you want to impress a date with your deep Berlin knowledge.
